Booking Terms

These terms apply to every tour booked on battrangpotteryvillage.com, operated by Bat Trang Pottery Village (“we”, “us”), Bat Trang, Hanoi, Vietnam. By completing checkout or confirming a booking on WhatsApp you accept these terms.
1. What you are booking
All tours are private, for groups of 1–4 guests, and priced per group. The price shown at checkout is final and includes everything listed on the tour page: a private car and driver, a licensed local guide who speaks fluent English, hotel pickup and drop-off in central Hanoi, the pottery class, every entrance fee (including the Bat Trang Ceramics Museum), and the banquet lunch, egg coffee and Ngoc Son Temple ticket stated for the full-day tour. Personal purchases, drinks beyond those stated, travel insurance and optional tips are not included.
Pickup and drop-off are free at any hotel in central Hanoi. Hotels further out can be arranged on request, and any extra cost is quoted in writing before you pay.
2. Sample itineraries and tailor-made days
The itineraries on this site are sample days, and every tour can be tailored on request. Tell us what to add, skip or spend longer on, and we confirm the plan and an all-inclusive price in writing before you book; a tailored day can cost more or less than the sample. On the day your guide can adjust the order and pace within the time booked, for example to give you more time at the wheel.
3. Operation and licensing
Tours are designed and sold by us and operated together with a licensed Vietnamese tour operator based in Hanoi. Your booking contract is with us, and we remain your single point of contact before, during and after the tour. We are an independent tour operator, not the Bat Trang Ceramics Museum, any village association or any government body.
4. Payment
You can pay in one of two ways. In full online: the whole price in US dollars by card, at our secure checkout or through a secure payment link we send on WhatsApp. 30% online, the rest in cash: a 30% deposit paid online to confirm the booking, and the remaining 70% in cash to your guide on the day of the tour, in US dollars or Vietnamese dong; your confirmation states the exact balance due.
Your booking is confirmed when the online payment completes and you receive a written confirmation with your pickup time and guide’s name.
5. Cancellation and refunds
Free cancellation up to 3 days (72 hours) before your scheduled pickup time — everything you have paid is refunded to your original payment method, normally within 5–10 business days depending on your bank.
Within 3 days of departure, including no-shows, 30% of the tour price is charged, because the car and guide are already committed. If you paid in full, we refund the other 70%; if you paid the 30% deposit, the deposit covers the charge and nothing more is due.

6. Weather, closures and changes by us
Bat Trang is a working village: family workshops keep their own hours, and on some days, such as village festivals or Tet, a workshop may be closed or busy. Hanoi summers are hot and wet, and heavy rain or flooding can slow the roads. If a workshop or stop is closed or unsafe we tell you before departure where possible and arrange a comparable workshop, a new date, or — if the day cannot reasonably go ahead — a full refund. We never quietly downgrade an itinerary.
7. Your responsibilities
Please be ready in your hotel lobby at the confirmed time; your guide waits for 20 minutes and will call or message you on WhatsApp. After that the booking is treated as a no-show, and late starts shorten the itinerary rather than extend the day. Tell us in advance about dietary needs, allergies or anything that affects walking. Clay washes off, but wear clothes you do not mind getting a little dusty, and dress respectfully at temples, with shoulders and knees covered. We strongly recommend travel insurance.
8. Children and accessibility
Children under 5 travel free and do not count towards the group size; from 5 a child counts as one guest. Bat Trang and the Old Quarter are flat, the pottery class is seated, and the museum is indoors; some old houses have a step or narrow doorway. For guests with limited mobility we plan the day around what is comfortable. Tell us before you book and we will say honestly what is possible.
9. Our liability
We take reasonable care in planning and running each tour. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim connected with a booking is limited to the amount you paid for that booking. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
